Raghav Juyal recently shared how portraying an intense character in Yudhra affected his behavior. The film, which was released on September 20, sees Juyal playing the role of Shafiq, a menacing antagonist in the action thriller. In a new interview with Mid-Day, he opened up about the emotional toll the role took on him, revealing that it led him to take some time off to recover.
Raghav Juyal on His Role
In the interview, Raghav explained, “Playing such a dark and intense character in Yudhra was a unique challenge for me. I had to push beyond my usual boundaries and engage in behaviors that felt completely foreign to me. The process was intense, and at times, unsettling. After filming wrapped, I realized the psychological impact it had on me. I felt an overwhelming need to step away and heal.”
He further shared, “My family noticed the changes in my behavior and expressed concern, which made me realize how deeply I had immersed myself in the role. Although I’ve played antagonistic characters before, like in Kill, this was the first time a role had such a profound effect on me. It was both challenging and rewarding.”
This isn’t Juyal’s first time playing a villain. Earlier this year, he received widespread praise for his chilling performance in Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s Kill, alongside Lakshya and Tanya Maniktala. The film performed well, grossing over ₹20 crore at the box office.
Yudhra, directed by Ravi Udyawar, stars Siddhant Chaturvedi in his first solo lead role, alongside Malavika Mohanan, Gajraj Rao, Ram Kapoor, and Raj Arjun. The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, and Sudha Anukta.
