Packing Tips For An Overseas Marriage

Ever heard the term; a man’s wardrobe can be fixed all in a suitcase? I bet you have! But it all changes when it comes to traveling for a marriage overseas and believe it or not, but just like women, even men like it just a little extra more!

But, that doesn’t solve the purpose, as men have always been found wanting when it comes to packing their bags. More so, when it comes to attend a marriage overseas! For all of you who fall under that confusing cage, here are the travel tips that might just work wonders for you.

Dressing up in your chic suit or even the favorite jeans is not the best of the idea when you are in a flight. No matter what, but the look of the outfit will not be intact for far too long and all you would be left with is, one wasted pair of outfit that could well have been used for any small function before or after the wedding. We suggest taking the easy way out and wearing 3/4th’s or full length lowers (depending upon the weather) teamed up with a nice tee and a jacket. This way, not only will you don a casual and sporty look, but can make sure that you are at your comfortable best when on road.

Don’t act like a typical man and flood your bag with whatever you get hold of first. Make sure that you know the theme of the wedding (if any) and its location, as they play a pivotal role in deciding not only the outfits, but color, fabric texture and other accessories. If the wedding that you are to attend is an Indian fixture, then make sure that you keep at least two pairs of kurta payjama with nice work of embroidery done on them (Indian weddings are well-known for far too many pre and after wedding affairs, hence, don’t take a chance). If it is anything, but an Indian wedding then you can always count on a nice and crisp Italian suit- one can never go wrong with it.

But with changing trends and preferences of the new generation, we would not be surprised if you told us that the location of the wedding you are attending, is at or near a beach. Solution? Try a nice pestle linen trouser & shirt with a matching blazer. They always fit the bill.

Outfits for Dinner (Formal & Informal): We have cocktails and dinner get together even in India these days, so hard to imagine that you would not have to attend one, when you are abroad. This is where you will get a chance to bring out your classy best. And if you are single, this is where you will get a chance to score too!

If it is a family dinner for an Indian gathering then a must take with you is chikankari kurta payjama with kolhapuri chappals. But if the gathering is that of western people, then stick on to a classic black suit with a shimmering waist coat, (not too bright though) to catch hold of those eyes in the crowd. Make sure that your feet are not underground with dusty shoes and you have polished them properly to keep the shine going for the night.

Shoes: They speak volumes about you! Carry the shoes that are in good health and if you are short of them, then the best bet is to buy the new ones. For formal dinner and marriage (if western) carry the classic shaped ones (try out Gucci Playboys if that is your budget) and for other functions your sneakers, moccasins and floaters can work well.

Check list for other accessories: Size does matter! Smaller the product, higher the chances that you would miss packing them! Here is a check list that can help you make sure that you have packed all that’s essential to for a good time ahead while you attend the wedding overseas.
Wallet, watch, extra pair of socks, shoe shiner, traveling papers, credit cards, shaving kit, perfumes, reading glasses (if any), sun glasses, camera, phone and laptop chargers, I-Pod/MP3 player, neck piece (if you wear any, or to match any outfit),
