It was almost a month back that I posted an update on my Facebook page about my next post, which was to be on how bloggers are using the platform of online media not for honest writing, but using it as a mean to promote their own friends and followers. The idea came from a bogus post (wish could remember the portal on which it was hosted), that was written (as per the byline- which has been removed now) by a wanna-be photographer (some Shekhar) from Delhi, who apparently was given the award of the most promising photographer in a low-graded event (and that is when he already had tried his hands to make a career in photography from the last seven years).

However, right in the middle of the article, the post, from being about what fashion photography is, turned into the personal profile of the photographer. Needless to say, that he did not write it and the blogger who wrote it seems to be a new kid on the block, who had no freaking idea what he was doing and used the platform just to please the guy! Read the post HERE.

Though the next day itself I dropped the idea of writing about it, as I thought it was just one of those cases and need not had to be taken hard on its ass. But I was to be proved wrong very soon!

Yesterday, I came across a blog post by this photographer Naina Redhu, and I like her work honestly speaking (photography I am talking about), that ranked few fashion blogs in India, as the top fashion blogs of India, as per their Alexa, Klout ranking, FB and Twitter followers! Nice gesture Naina, but the post seemed to be nothing, but a sham! Read Here.

The problem that I found in this post was that, barring few, most of the blogs listed there as being ‘top ones’ have poor International and Indian Alexa ranking and don’t even figure in the lead pages of Google search, if you go and type ‘top fashion blogs in India’.

What I also failed to agree was the conclusion drawn that there are only two male fashion and lifestyle bloggers in India. Because if that was to be true then these links have to proved void…

http://www.deepufashion.info/
http://www.beauty-traveller.com/
www.ffocus.blogspot.com
http://www.purushu.com/
And of course yours truly – www.stylerug.net

What seems to be the case here is, one blogger writing a piece that could be sensationalized and is about the blogs that she normally follows.

When I started blogging five years back, it was all about penning down your thoughts without having to please someone. Yes, we all do advertorials and we all do brand promotions, but then, promoting individuals (in case of Shekhar) or promoting blogs that don’t even stand good (I don’t mean all of them) in terms of ranking on Alexa and Google is nothing, but doubtful writing!

What is disturbing to see is that the medium (blogging), which is surely the next big thing in Indian media, losing its charm and strength because of these bogus write-ups. All that I see these days is bloggers posting their own pictures in every post, and no it’s not limited to the ones, wherein, they are giving tips on look management, but also posting their pictures from the events that they attend.

As it seems, blogging, from being a tool that was meant for thought expression, has gone on to become a self-promotional adda! And for all such people, I have only one message…see the picture below!!

Out of all the looks that one talks about for men, there can never be a doubt, even for a moment, that ‘Italian Summer Style’ is the one that oozes most of cosmopolitan chic and a workable blend of glamour and comfort.

Weirdly enough though, Italian men seem to have a certain style and aura that is hard to pin down and define. And in this article that is precisely what we will try and de-code. But before that we need to know what’s happening…on the runways!

The Mediterranean was a key inspiration for many of the spring/summer 2012 collections with soft tailoring, sun-bleached neutrals and cropped trousers taking precedence on many of the runways.

Here are a few key collections from the spring/summer 2012 runway shows.

Z Zegna SS12

<img class="size-full wp-image-6585" alt=".

Dolce and Gabbana SS12

How To Get The Look

Though not a rocket science, bunt Italian summer style still has a lot of scope for adjustment and an individual touch that you can incorporate in the look. However, there are a few things to remember in order to really hone your easy-going Mediterranean chic:

This look is not necessarily about rigidity or sharpness, it is about a reserved elegance that comes from using lightweight pieces that befit the warm conditions. This way of summer dressing has less of an Ivy League feel, and is much less clean cut. And in simple worlds- the tailoring is soft.

The “spezzatura” factor has to be in the back of your mind. Although the outfits are thought out and well considered, the Italians ooze that swashbuckling sartorial confidence. They don’t need (or want) to follow every single ‘rule’, but they carry it off with confidence.

Fortunately, it is possible for you or I, to get this look from the high street as I am sure that not all of us can afford, a Salvatore Ferragamo jacket, can we? In particular, both Zara and H&M have channelled and embraced the sun-kissed mood with their summer collections at the moment. The former focusing more on neutral colors and washed cottons – reminiscent of last year’s ‘Sicilian Sensuality’ campaign from Dolce & Gabbana – and the latter putting more emphasis on bold color and lightweight tailoring.

There is one question that we all ask each other, almost every weekend! And that question is – where is the freaking party? Well, parties happen in every second building of every god-damn town (yeah they all like calling themselves- nightclub). But what matters is the place that not only has the best music, alcohol and ambience, but also the overall setup.

And with new clubs popping up every day, the heat is on for crazy concepts and one-of-a-kind venues. Keeping that in mind, we at www.stylerug.net thought of listing four nightclubs, what we think, are one of the top nightclubs in the world. So, the next time when you pack to any of the countries where these nightclubs are, you know just where to let your feet get lose.

PRIVILEGE, San Rafael, Ibiza

Touted as the world’s largest nightclub, PRIVILEGE is the best game in town. Spread in an area of around 30000 square feet, Privilege offers swimming pool, stage, 16 bars, garden, viewing dome, on-site memorabilia and the best dance floor. Hovered over the central swimming pool showcasing Trapeze artists, flame jugglers and stilt walkers, makes it the best place for serious night owls.

GUACARA TAINA (THE CAVE), Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

What else could be better than to go underground and feel the weekend bash. Yes, The CAVE, is one of the unique night clubs, which is 60 feet below the earth surface and can accommodate around 3000 party freaks at the same time. Smartly designed with three dance floor around the cleft and seating area in the natural twists of the limestone walls, The CAVE is one of the top Night Club to enjoy the meringue show, originated in Dominican Republic. But before you seat for the best show in town, don’t forget to pick your goblet to raise the fun meter.
HALIKARNAS, Bodrum, Turkey

Halikarnas is the largest open-air nightclub, with half-dozen bars catering around 10,000 people on a beach surrounded by pillars and palm trees. Big-name DJ’s and laser show around 85feet high fountain, makes Halikarnas as one of the top Night Clubs in our list. So check your travelling bag and get ready to dance under the sky.

The Guvernment, Toronto

This 22,000-square-foot nightclub has been around for over a decade, and has won EYE Magazine’s “Best Dance Club” award twice during its reign. With so much space, this venue draws both DJ talent and décor from all over the world—disco balls and white drapery recall Miami nightclubs, and red-velvet-drenched alcoves filled with hookah smoke summon Moroccan culture. Rather than travel the world in search of the best nightclub, why not let the sounds and sights of the world’s best clubs come to you? – Guest Post By RishabhRaj.

Everyone has their favorite Beatle, and the band’s two frontmen, John Lennon and Paul McCarteny tended to be most people’s. For all his theatrics, some may even like Ringo Starr above all others. But George Harrison, who spent most of his time being the introvert, largely remained on the sidelines, even though he was one of the most influential members of the group. And even responsible, for some major changes to their sound!

Born in Liverpool to a bus conductor and a shop assistant, Harrison claimed his first exposure to music was through Elvis Presley’s ‘Heartbreak Hotel’. The song had him drawing guitars in his schoolbooks until he bought his first one- a Dutch Egmond flat acoustic- which helped him form his first band. He met McCarteny early on, while on his way to school, thought it would be a while before Lennon would look past his age and let him join The Quarrymen. Harrison’s time with the Beatle’s was legendary, but few besides the most fascinated fans know that he was responsible for the brand’s understanding of Indian culture and classical music. It was this understanding that changed their sound by the time they released – Rubber Soul!

Harrison wanted to develop his talent as a music director, so he started veering the band off the traditional path. Rubber Soul featured folksy music and nods to the Indian classical music through the use of traditional instruments; Harrison played the sitar in ‘Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)’. The following album Revolver, marked Harrison’s peak as a songwriter, including three songs written by him: ‘Taxman’, ‘Love You To’, and ‘I want To Tell You’. Once again, Harrison swapped his guitar for a sitar on the parts of the recordings, which also featured the first use of the tambura and tabla.

As the Beatles reached the end of their ability to coexist, Harrison wrote two of Anney Road’s most acclaimed songs ‘Here Comes The Sun’ and ‘Something’. The latter went on to become the second most-covered song by The Beatles and Harrison’s first chart-topper. This foretold the stellar music he would continue to make after he parted ways with the band. His first album as a solo artist was All Things Must Pass, featuring chart-buster hits like “My Sweet Lord’ and “What Is Life”.

He enjoyed a remarkable solo career, but for the second time in his life, he and few friends formed a band. In 1988, Harrison co-founded the Traveling Wilburys with Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, releasing an album that would reach triple platinum success in the USA.

He continued to make music till he died because of lung cancer, leaving behind music that we all swing onto!

In one of my earlier posts on www.stylerug.net, I talked about how chatting on the internet, helped me overcome my linguistic challenges and groomed my English to a level that eventually has led me taking up writing as my full-time profession!

Now, most of the parents might be apprehensive (correctly so), about the idea of their kids chatting with friends or even strangers for that matter, on social media platforms. But, there is no denying that it does help one opening their horizons to the unseen world and get a better grip on their mind. Or so I feel!

But honestly speaking, I don’t chat on social media sites or Yahoo or even Skype anymore! The first reason is that I don’t get time (shades of coolness ehh), and the second reason is –they make me yawn to death!

But then, I recently came across this cool android app- WeChat that allows user to communicate with another user, albeit, without compromising their privacy and got hooked onto chatting again. The ones, who use it, would know that you can search for people as per their location and start chatting with them. And NO, you need not be in each other’s contact list.

This functionality of this app, made me think- what if I could actually talk to people (especially the ones I did not know personally), whom I always wanted talk, but could not for various reasons? What if I could talk to my favorite celebrity or a politician or for that matter a sportsperson? Well, that does seem like – making your wish coming true, isn’t it?

So here I am, with my wish list of five people, who I think I would have loved chatting to via a WeChat group!

Jim Morrison

Admittedly I am a die-hard Jim Morrison Fan and guess the similarity between our writing-style is a key reason to that. Though he was known (besides his vocal and writing talent), as an alcoholic, drug addict, revengeful, full of irony and anguish, carefree, emotionless and God knows what not, but I think there was more to him than that. I would have loved to talk to him about how he lived those 27 years (yes he died at that age), caged with those words that talked of his pain, but were a source of healing for others.

I would have liked to chat and pick his brain on how he managed not to write sugar-coated poetry, but still was a rage among masses, hated by few and loved by millions. More importantly, as a poet, I would have may be tried to get an answer to –how to be free!

Mahatma Gandhi

Ok, I have never met him (though at times he does give a visit to my wallet via INR), but I do have few questions that I would may be throw at him. Though he is praised for all his contributions/sacrifices that he made fighting for the independence of the country, I somehow did not like (if history is to be believed), the role that he played during Dandi March. To what many historians believe, Gandhi apparently asked for the release of all the Indian prisoners to bring an end to his fast, except one-Bhagat Singh!

So after this not-so-likeable-act, why should he be on my wish list of ‘person to talk’ on WeChat group? Well, I just want to write only word to him and that is – WHY?

Kalpana Chawla

In a country, where female sex is still considered a taboo in most of the rural areas and a product to use and throw in the urbans, there is one Indian name that shall make all the messed up male brains die with guilt and embarrassment. And that is this woman – Kalpana Chawla!

She was the first Indian American astronaut and first Indian woman in space, who was one of seven crew members killed in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster back in 2003. If only I could get a chance to talk to her, I would want to know how did this country (India), looked from above, where raping a five year old girl is a norm and norm is also to get up the very next morning chanting the song – mera bharat mahaan!

I would also want to know from her…what does the space looks like? Why is there a need to know about some other world that exists out there? Why is it that human race can never be happy with its own existence and start preserving what it already has? Why is there no another Kalpana Chawla, yet, in this country of over 120Cr. population?

Salman Rushdie

Honestly speaking, there is only one thing that I want to ask this “controversially your’s” writer. And that is – where the hell did you learn your vocabulary from? Man, I tell you, I love his ideas and his narration of stories, but I just can’t read any of his books without keeping a dictionary beside me. If only, I could be even 5% of what he writes, I think I would be able to show my face to Jim Morrison up in the heaven lol!

Lord Shiva

I have often dreamt Gods and seen them crying sitting alone because of the atrocious nature that human race has towards its own self. There are thousands of other reasons too, but I can’t pen down all of them here.

Just imagine a small office, wherein, one correction in working culture takes ages to pass through, India alone has over 130 Crores of population, and I don’t even know the world’s overall number. How on the holly earth can the poor chap sitting in heaven, hear to all and serve all? And even a smallest amount of delay (as if we give him time limits) in making a wish come true, results in our curses and abuses to him,

God too feels feeble, he also can feel the misery of not being able to help the world he shaped, the pain of deaths slits his heart too and a lover’s failure takes a portion out of his elements. Mothers who lose their infants because of starvation, a father who can’t nosh his family and the children has to bear the pain, the infancy, which instead of listening to the angel’s story in bed is spent begging on streets, the race of the races and the castes, which dethrones humanity in the park and raises the monsters to hate.

All of these are not what he planned in his life, but he sees and suffers and shed tears sitting alone. “I did not want this, nor did I plan this …then why?? I made all for one and one for all, then why divisions? Why do I have so many names for so many voices?”

I do not want to chat with him on my WeChat group because I want to….I wish it happened because I know he needs someone to talk to…

Himanshu and Shruti Singhal of Mod’Art International,The School of Fashion Design & Management hosted their Annual Fashion Show, “A La Mode” at Florian , MGF Mall Saket recently. The exquisite evening showcased the creative talents of seven first year students of the institute.

The show presented an amalgamation of seven mesmerizing themes REVELATION, AQUATIC MYSTIQUE, HEPHAESTUS, TREASURED MYTHOS, MELLANOID, AMOUR, JENNY- THE ZIPPER giving these students a platform to put forward their creative energies and a glimpse of the real fashion world.

Kick starting with REVELATION, the theme explored nature and took inspiration from the colored patterns of different elements of nature. The show further graduated to AQUATIC MYSTIQUE, which as the name suggests depicted the different moods of the sea. The third theme for the evening was HEPHAESTUS, wherein, the designs portrayed the goddess of fire, transcending into TREASURED MYTHOS, which was a depiction of the culture of Orissa. The next sequence MELLANOID was inspired by the color “Black” moving into AMOUR, which is the greek synonym for love and beauty. The evening culminatesd with JENNY- THE ZIPPER, a fun and colorful sequence that plays around with metallic elements.

The weekend kicked off with an evening cocktail reception held at the Royal Suite at the majestic Taj Palace Marrakech, the Sex and the City 2 shoot location, where all guests stayed throughout the weekend.

Here is the pictorial view of the event…

Way back in the summers of 1999, I don’t know why, but I started penning down a poem. Needless to say, it was my first attempt! Linguistically challenged as I was (I did not know how to read/write in English fluently), the product that came out on those blank papers was a stupid, funny Hindi poem on lord Hanuman and his tail (Ya-ya, take a laugh) and how conveniently he burnt the hell out of Raavana’s Lanka.

However bad it was (not that I knew it), I went and recited it to my brother, sister and my father. What happened next? Well, the guy who is writing this post became the butt of their jokes for some real long time! Though the timing of their ‘taking my case’ might have differed, but one line that was common between their banters was – dude you can’t write…stop embarrassing yourself!

Call it me being egoistic, blame it on my rigid sun sign (am a Leo) or term it as my pain-I swore to myself that I will prove them wrong. Coming from Hindi medium schooling background, I needed a miracle to adapt to language and its verses in order to bury the agony of their jokes. Though I continued to write poems In Hindi, I never shared it with anyone and in no time I had filled three diaries with weird stuff that even I did not know I could ever think of.

But that wasn’t my target!

As I continued to write my diaries and poems, I started reading English newspaper (the only one in the whole colony to do that at that time) and started spending countless hours in internet cafes chatting with unknown people and conversing with them in English on chat. Only my mother knows how much money she paid for my STD calls that I used to make to my online friends, so that I could communicate with them in English and feel comfortable about the language. I was still bad at it, but at least it was a start!

And then came the change that I guess I was waiting for!

During one of my chatting sessions (wherein I did manage to make an online girlfriend too lol), I came across a website- www.poetry.com that was inviting writers from across the globe to participate in an online competition of writing poetry. And the winner for the competition was to get not only USD5000, but also his/her poem was to be printed in their annual book and a song recorded for the same. Hesitantly I started writing my first poem in English (took a lot of help from Oxford dictionary to get some punchy words), penned it down and submitted it without much of hope! My next step was –forgetting that I had submitted anything….

Couple of months passed by and I had long forgotten that I had submitted anything anywhere. But one fine day, a postman came to my father’s shop with a post with my name on it. YES… it was from poetry.com. Though I did not win (expectedly), they found my poem good enough to be printed in their book and also to convert it into a song. The letter was seeking permission for the same! What did I do? Do I need to answer that?

The idea of sharing this story is that though I was warned by my brother, sister and even by my father that I would never be able to write and excel in that field (and honestly I had my own insecure demons to fight with), I took the warning as a challenge and continued to pen down nonstop.

Not blabbering, but the guy who once did not even know how to construct two sentences in English, in the last seven years, have gone on to work with brands like Gucci, www.stylekandy.com, HT CITY, Images Group. Became editorial consultant with India based magazine TLF, South Africa based magazine Sutra, freelanced for London based online magazine http://chasseurmagazine.com/ and had a weekly column with www.idiva.com to name a few. Not to mention he started his own online fashion and lifestyle property www.stylerug.net. And I sincerely do believe that those warnings given by my family members are the key factor to where I am today!

The moral of the story is, at times warnings come to you to change your life, and if you understand them well and work towards the remedy then I am sure you would thank the warning to have knocked on to your door.

It was way back in 1899, that the famous Austrian neurologist Sigmund Freud, in his book – The Interpretation of Dreams, first talked about the motivation of dreams. And if we go by what he said, then dreams are a mirror to what you wish for in life, and are often a result of the day preceding the dream, which he called the day residue.

As much as it’s human to see dreams, it is also human to try to figure out the meaning attached to them. Hence, came forth dream interpretation.

Dream interpretation is a form of reading out hidden thoughts of an individual, stored in his/her subconscious. It is not exactly a form of divination, but isn’t far from it either.
“Our dreams are nothing but the culmination of our memories, wishes, fears, needs, wants and many other things and within these lay the complex symbols. Interpretation of these symbols into a language could be termed as dream interpretation” shared Rohit Dhawan, a leading tarot reader & crystal therapist.

Colors, numbers, animals, and shapes, all these have different meanings in our dreams and recalling the dreams is not an easy task. Almost 70% of the people forget their dreams when they wake up, 10% forget their dreams within 10 minutes after they wake up, and another 5% forget it within 20 minutes, another 10% remember their dreams, but in fragments. Only a mere 5% of people are able to recall their dream properly enough for a reading by a psychic.

However, have you ever wondered how one can get their dream interpreted and what are the after effects of it on the interpreter?

Reading dreams require conversion of complex occult symbols, into something meaningful. The psychic (interpreter) asks the person to recall fragments from his/her dreams and make a note of them. Once the psychic has enough information that they need to know, they start connecting the occult symbols piece by piece like a story and give out the reading. This is only possible when the individual has enough data for interpretation.

Another way of interpretation is that the psychic takes the dreamer in a subconscious state of mind and then makes an effort to take the information out of the person. An experienced psychic can also enter the mind of the person who has seen the dream and talk to the individual about it.

“For this to work, the person who has seen the dream shall have to be in a completely relaxed state of mind and easy on his senses. This helps in organizing the mind, making the person aware of what is going inside, instead of what is happening around. The tools that we use for this can range from candles, pendulums and music. At times even just a calm conversation with the dreamer can help the cause” Rohit further added.

Do Tarot cards help?

Tarot is a different form of divination. Using tarot in dream interpretation is possible, but it depends a lot on the type of tarot cards used and on the psychic. Tarot cards are also made of occult symbols, but they differ from dreams. They could be used as a helping tool, but you cannot rely on them alone to interpret a dream. The real test of a psychic comes when he has to directly engage with the individual using only the body and the mind as tools to read the dream. This form is of interpretation is not common but is normally exploited only by an experienced psychic.

Spiritual Connection!

Spiritual power is nothing but a mind trained and perfected to the point where it can travel between a conscious and subconscious state at will. Spiritual powers cannot make their home in a disturbed mind. To enter into that kind of state, where your mind cannot feel your conscious body, requires years of training and practice. When you’re in that deep and calm state of mind, you hear nothing but your body breathing constantly. Proper interpretation of dreams requires deep knowledge of kabala i.e. language of occult symbols. Without knowledge of occult, one may find it difficult to practice this art.

Effects on the psychic

Knowing the real essence and the meaning of your dream may prove an exciting experience for you, however, for the psychic it is a draining procedure; both physically and mentally. The psychic who reads the dreams does undergo a lot of stress during the sessions, depending on the duration and intensity of the sessions. After extended reading sessions, a psychic might feel completely drained out of energy and may also complain of body fatigue and headaches. When a psychic is taking sessions he is constantly pushing his brain to an area, which doesn’t work while fully conscious.

He also has to stay aware of his physical body or else he’ll feel sleepy and won’t be able to conduct the reading properly. The best way to overcome these difficulties is through regular meditation to make the inner senses stronger.

Most Common Dreams and their meaning

Snakes - Snake is related to hidden fears, it can also be quoted as an individual who is acting as a villain around the subject. It is also taken as a symbol of sexuality.

Lizards: - A person dreaming of lizards should be aware of all the circumstances and situations that he might encounter in the near future.

Fire: - It is a complicated symbol. The actual interpretation would depend on other symbols that appeared along with this. Fire means creativity, destruction and also sudden change. It also denotes anger, rage, and an uncontrolled situation.

Being Chased: - This also can have multiple meanings to it! It might involve a situation that one might be trying to avoid and run away from, or moving away from a person he/she might not want to be with.

Can you learn it? Yes of course!

There are colleges that teach how to interpret dreams when you study Psychology. You can also learn the same via a short term course in Hypnotherapy. The most important of all while you try to master this art is to understand the language Kabalah i.e. the language of symbols and also a form of divination, for e.g. tarot cards.

I would not be the first one to say that fashion is an industry dominated by women power. And it kind of saddens me, when I see that men are not only neglected, but also have to slog much harder than women. And if runways or advertisements were not enough, women took their presence to internet shopping also with the emergence of uber trendy womens’ fashion portal, Net-a-porter.

Not so surprisingly, the online retail and boutiques found the market substantially strong and ‘BOOM’ there was an explosion of women friendly shopping portals in no time. And that left me wondering – is it really right? Shall men always feed on to the role of being a second fiddle in the market? And of course the answer from within was a –NO!

To find the answers I went on Google (apparently they have the answer to everything that you can think of), and figured out few online shopping portals that were giving men their due – a chance to satisfy their shopping buds!

So we made a list of few of them, in order to give you a chance to lighten your wallet, but still feel good because of the products and quality that these shopping portals dedicated to men has to offer.

Fashionara (www.fashionara.com)

With brands like Wills Lifestyle, Arrow and Van Huesen, this online store gives you a chance to explore more Indian vibes than the others. You can take a look at the different apparel and accessory designs, gift them or buy for yourself. Standard shipment is free, which obviously makes all the Indian feel good. What they also do is regular promotional sales, that gives you a chance to buy more while spending less.

Matches (www.matchesfashion.com)

This one is for the ones who like donning international brands and have a taste for luxury products. Matches, was started in 1990 and has grown large since. It allows you to have a unique shopping experience, from looking into your requirements of accessories, apparel and shoes to choosing your favorite high-end designers.

Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Bottega Venetta, Burberry, Valentino and Zegna, think of a name and they have it. You can go through every brand’s lookbook available online and choose the ready-to-wear you want to buy and can also reserve them when they arrive for sale- isn’t that fantastic? They will have a preview section where you can see how the product would fit or look on you a person.

Freecultr (www.freecultr.com)

Their slogan ‘We are you’, itself gives a feeling of being in love with the brand. The designs and collection provided by the brand is quite extensive and provides you with a variety, from outer wears, casuals to night wear. Apart from that Freecultr provides some unique associations like the promotional souvenirs from the cricket team Knight Riders and the Freecultr college ambassador programme, which initiates young people from colleges to promote their brand and in turn get gift vouchers, resume additions and sponsorships. They have recently tied-up with ace designer duo Lecoanet-Hemant in their bid to offer that much extra to the consumers.
